Tags made from recycled paper that grows into herbs

Our Trunk tags are made of 100% post consumer waste paper which is sourced from a shredding company. Growing Paper (the local company behind the idea) add only water to the waste paper to create the paper pulp from which the handmade paper is made.  The paper is then infused with seeds and can be planted in soil, watered and eventually grow into herbs and veggies. Growing Paper is a source of permanent employment for 30+ individuals and provides paid upskilling opportunities for countless more who would be equipped to pursue future job leads.

Our packaging is entirely plastic-free

We partnered with Mielie Mailer, a local South African brand who make courier mailing bags from corn or mielies. The plant materials used are sourced from sustainable grow areas where no forest or natural habitat was cleared.  The use of plant materials in their mailers make up less than 0.01% of the global annual corn crop which makes it an extremely low-impact resource. And because they use corn which is unfit for human consumption, the production of the packaging does not direct food away from people.  Mielie Mailers are both re-usable and compostable (preferably re-used and then composted). Once composted they disappear within as little as 3-months. What do we mean by disappear? They turn into C02, H20 and nutrient rich humus (organic matter) only. No plastic, no...

We use fabrics made from recycled plastic

In an effort to be as environmentally friendly as possible and eliminate waste, we use REPREVE fabrics, where we can.  REPREVE is the leading, most trusted, branded performance fiber made from recycled materials (including plastic bottles). In our first collection, we have used Reprove fabrics in red and black in the Bantry Bay bikini.  How is REPREVE made? Step-by-Step Source Recycled Waste: Recycled plastic bottles and post-industrial waste are collected worldwide. Make the Chip: Waste material is chopped, ground, washed, melted and reformulated into high-quality REPREVE chip. Form the Fiber: Chip is melted into liquid polymer and extruded through tiny openings in a spinneret, creating continuous filaments that form REPREVE fiber. Process the Yarn: Fiber becomes yarn through spinning and air-jet texturing. Ship...
